The 1969 College High graduate was a nine-time State champion in swimming from 1966-1969. During Tietze’s time at Bartlesville, he set five State high school records and numerous Splash Club records. Paul was a four-time All-American at Southern Methodist University from 1970 to 1973 and was a member of the U.S. team in the World Games on two occasions. In 1968, as a sophomore in high school, Paul set a national record in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 47.6. Paul passed away Jan. 27, 1999 at the age of 48.
